Default I hate [email protected] insurance companies.. crazy ladies and this stupid state!

A few weeks ago my car got hit by this crazy lady who ran a light and completely tore off my rear bumper.. In a DOWNTOWN situation on small streets, and i was in the MIDDLE LANE. We called the cops but they said that they wouldnt come out unless someone was hurt or my car needed to be towed. I called her insurance company later and they sent out a claims guy and he considered my car to be totaled, because the cost of the repair is more then the cost of my car, If my claim went through, PA law dictates that they have to take my car away before i see a cent; for a torn off bumper.

And of course .. A few days later i find out that my insurance claim was DENIED because get this, there wasn't a police report, and the crazy Bi...h was claiming she had a green light too. And of course they considered my girlfriend that was in the front seat of my car and saw my green light was a biased witness.

Now this is the best part..
The lady who just got a scratch on her bumper is now pursueing that my insurance company pay for her scratched bumper. When SHE ran the red light and tore of my rear bumper. And pennyslvania law might translate that my insurance company might have to pay. I cant even comprehend how insurance companies could let this happen.

I would have been much better off with out any insurance company at all. The next time i get in a minor accident without witnessess, Im going to keep f*#$king going.

I got my car fixed, the estimated $1,500 damage was repaired with a $75 weld, spray foam and some under coating..

Moral of the story is, If you have a low value car your insurance is completely worthless.

Yup. It's called a write off. Claim your insurance, bite the dust and get a new car. That's what happened to my mum, same sort of thing cept it was her own fault.
She got what the insurance company thought the car was worth (about two thirds of what it actually WAS worth), and had to get a cheaper car.

I'm not sure how insurance works in the US.. over here you HAVE to have it and it can cost a lot. For older drivers a few hundred pounds, and for drivers like me you're talking high hundreds to a thousand depending on the age, value and engine size of the car etc.

First, Why in the hell did you call HER insurance company?

Did you think THEY were going to give you ANY infomation that was going to be helpful or advantagous to you in any way?

Did you call your insurance company?

When you talked to the Police, what instructions did they give?

Almost ALL insurance companies require a police report to be filed and be on record BEFORE any type of claim will be considered.

I wasn't so sure how this insurance thing worked before the accident, I was under the impression that you file a claim with the other persons insurance company and not your own.
And I did call my insurance company. The accident was on a friday night, and my insurance lady wouldnt be there till monday and they didn't have an emergency number. When i finally called her she told me that she was out of the loop and that she really couldn't do anything. Yeah im probably thinking the same thing right about now, time to get a new insurance company. We called the police directly after the incident, they actually told us that they wouldn't come out like i said ,Lazy pittsburgh police. This isnt going to happen again, im going to make sure their lazy asses get down to the accident; they show up in abundance to our stupid baseball games.

Well there is the first problem right there, how can one expect to use something if they don't know how it works?

Did you ask this many questions or make this type inquiry to your insurance company?

Hopefully it's a lesson learned and if there is a next time you'll know what to do.

I had a simular situation a month ago. A woman turn right and hit me in a intersection. She was not in a right turn lane. No witnesses. The cop wasn't giving me a police report because of the new state law. Michigan law now says you have to have $1000.00 damage or more to get a report. My question is: Are police qualifide in making that decision? So I complained to the Precinct Captain. He gave it to the Sargent. I also took in a estimate from a body shop. $1100.00. It is a Buick Lesabre Limited. They are not cheap to fix. Well I got my report, however the police will not issue a ticket to this dizzy woman. So I am screwed there.

My advice is never move your car from an accident. The lane you are in will prove you right. That would have for me. That Dizzy woman that hit me said I went into her lane. That was my mistake was clearing the intersection for the other people trying to get home from work. Also, when you call in, say your neck and back are in pain or you have a headache. That will get a response real fast. Also staying in the intersection will too.

Check with your local police, and see what the criteria is for a report. Could be like Michigan. X amount of dollars of damage for a report.

Insurance should be optional... I figure if your a good driver you will end up paying ALOT more through insurance in your life than you would if you got into an accident.. and if you did you could just use the money you saved from not paying insurance to fix your car... its all a big sham

In california the problem of why insurence and doctor bills is so high is because 1 of 5 people have insurence. And when 5 people gi they have to charge the one person with insurence extra to pay for the other 4 and sorry that you got it.

No, the problem in CA is that everything is over inflated, and we are still and at-fault state, which means that someone has to be determined as being at fault for causing the accident. Do I want CA to become a no-fault state, hell no, as that will actually cause rates to rise and we have the same problem with the police here, no injury and they won't come out unless one vehicle can't be moved. Also, it's state law that if your vehicle is moveable you must pull it out of the way of traffic, this is designed so that traffic backups from accidents are minimized in the advent of a fender-bender. I could go on and on but who doesn't know CA is screwed up to begin with.

I got hit by some losers from behind, spun me right around. The front half of their car got mashed but my car just had a scuff. Then I got out and they drove away. Took their number down but the fscking cops didn't bother - said they couldn't find out who owned the car. My a$$ the lazy assholes just saw my car didn't have any serious or easily visible damage and didn't bother. They find your car fast enough if you don't pay tickets.
